That’s correct. Scott Bakula, the star of Quantum Leap, was born and raised in St. Louis.

He was born October 9th, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1973.

As a child Scott was always interested in acting and singing. In fourth grade he started a rock band and wrote songs for the band. Later on he even sang with the St. Louis Symphony.

Scott was active in theater even in his high school days at Kirkwoood High where he had a couple leading roles. He attended the University of Kansas for two years before leaving college and moving to New York to further his acting career.

While Scott Bakula is best known for his starring role as Dr. Sam Beckett in “Quantum Leap” it’s also worth noting he had roles in many other movies, television shows and commercials. Major League: Back to the Minors, Star Trek: Enterprise and Chuck are a few others that come to mind.

In 1995 he appeared on the cover of Playgirl Magazine.

Scott has been married twice. He married Krista Neumann in 1981 and had two children Chelsy and Cody. The couple was divorced in 1995. In 1996 Scott married actress Chelsea Field. He and his new wife also had two children together, Wil and Owen.

Scott’s current project is a new show on TNT called “Men of Certain Age” which premiered on December 7th, 2009. It’s an hour long program starring Scott Bakula, Ray Romano and Andre Braugher as three best friends dealing with middle age.

Speaking for the City of St. Louis, we are proud that such a talented individual hailed from our hometown.

It’s always good to see native St. Louisans become famous and do so well for themselves.
